Why putting thoughts on paper creates lasting cognitive change
Today I caught myself only reading articles that confirmed my existing political views. I realised I was actively avoiding sources that might challenge my perspective. This is classic confirmation bias—seeking information that validates what I already believe whilst dismissing contradictory evidence. Moving forward, I'll deliberately read at least one article from an opposing viewpoint each day, not to change my mind necessarily, but to understand different reasoning and strengthen my own arguments through critical examination. This awareness alone feels like progress.
